Landslide worries and other Atascadero emergencies

The Tribune provides coverage of serious crimes every day on its news pages. Here is a look at other, more unusual calls as found in recent police logs from Atascadero.

Wet bandit 10:16 a.m. Jan. 7, 5501 Traffic Way

A person at Highline Automotive reported an ongoing problem with a man turning on the faucets. The man was walking around the parking lot at the time of the call. Officers arrived and arrested him for outstanding warrants.

Lost laundry 9:28 p.m. Jan. 7, 9905 El Camino Real

A man said someone stole all his laundry out of a dryer. He called back a few minutes later to say he found his clothes.

Landslide will bring you down 1:12 p.m. Jan. 8, 7955 Del Rio Road

A resident was concerned about a possible landslide. Two trucks were parked on top of a hill, and the resident was concerned that, if the hill slid, the dirt and trucks would fall onto the street below. Officers checked the area, and said there didn’t appear to be a hazard.

Mama’s mad 7:04 p.m. Jan. 8, 10000 block of Catalpa Street

A woman said she got home and found five or more teenagers drinking. She said her daughters, ages 14 and 17, then ran away. She said she would call back if they did not come home by 11 p.m.

Suspicious story 3:44 p.m. Jan. 9, 5505 El Camino Real

A woman said someone in an older green truck stopped in her driveway on Carmel Road and said he was delivering a pizza. She watched him drive away, and he did not stop at any other house.

Smokin’ 7:05 p.m. Jan. 9, 7101 El Camino Real

A group of people reportedly started a fire outside the 99 Cents Only store. It was determined to be a barbecue.
