A 57-year-old San Luis Obispo man was killed early Wednesday morning when fire consumed the recreational vehicle in which he was living.
San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office officials identified the victim as Ronald Dean Silveira.
The fire broke out at 12:30 a.m. in the trailer that was parked on commercial property at Broad Street and Farmhouse Lane, across from the Cal Fire station and near the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport, said Cal Fire Battalion Chief Paul Lee.
The cause of the fire appears to be accidental. However, investigators are unlikely to determine an exact cause of the blaze because the trailer was gutted by the flames.
It started in the front and moved to the back, Lee said.
The trailer was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.
Silveira died of injuries suffered in the blaze. Four engines and 18 firefighters responded; the investigation continues.
The incident marked the second time this month that a person died in a fire in a recreational vehicle that was used as a residence. On Jan. 7, Karen Moreland, 73, died in an RV fire near Morro Bay
