Prep Roundup: Paso Robles pins Atascadero in wrestling

Bearcats win all but two matches in 58-9 win over Greyhounds after earlier shutting out St. Joseph 75-0

Kobe Feely had a pin at 113 pounds to lead the Paso Robles High wrestling team to a dominating 58-9 PAC 7 dual win over Atascadero on Tuesday, just hours after a 75-0 shutout of St. Joseph, to keep the Bearcats undefeated with their eighth consecutive win.

Cameron Morones (107 pounds) and Jimmy Pacheco (189) also won by decision for Paso Robles against Atascadero.

Daniel Santos (132) won by major decision, and Nick Ducasee (147) won by decision for Atascadero.

Kevan Garcia (154) led Paso Robles (8-0, 4-0 PAC 7) with a win by decision against St. Joseph.

The Greyhounds fell to St. Joseph in a separate dual match, 56-12. 

GIRLS WATER POLO

Paso Robles 10, San Luis Obispo 2

The Bearcats (14-5, 4-1 PAC 7) dominated against the Tigers (5-12, 1-2 ) with Zoe Zepp and Rebecca Toby scoring three goals apiece

Emma Tietje and Kimi McCarty scored for San Luis Obispo, while goalie Anna Mullen had 20 saves.

Marty Rae Grois had 10 saves for Paso Robles.

Atascadero 9, Righetti 7

Rachel Gruetzmacher scored four goals, and the Greyhounds (8-8, 3-1 

PAC 7) took a 4-1 lead into halftime and held on for the road win over the Warriors.

Claire Leong had scored twice and Lauren Giggy had 17 saves in goal for Atascadero.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Coast Union 60, North County Christian 12

Alan Hernandez scored 14 points, Logan Brandt had eight points and 10 rebounds, and the Broncos used a 22-1 first quarter to cruise past the visiting Crusaders.

Quinton Raethke had nine points, eight steals and four assists, and Greg Kniffen added 11 points for Coast Union in the home victory.

Nolan Cannon had five points and nine rebounds, and Nathan Cedillo had nine rebounds and four steals for North County Christian (3-9, 2-4 CVL).

Valley Christian 96, Shandon 21

Hector Ringel led the Outlaws (4-2 CVL) with 10 points in the road loss to the Lions. 

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Coastal Christian 30, Cuyama Valley 28

Roni Garrison scored 13 points and grabbed 21 rebounds as the Conquerors (1-2 CVL) held on against the Bears.

Coastal Christian trailed by one at half but used a 9-0 run on the third quarter to pull away.

Amy Arnold added 14 points and 14 rebounds for the Coastal Christian

BOYS SOCCER

Nipomo 3, Santa Ynez 3, tie

Caleb Doane scored two goals for the Titans in the Los Padres League draw.

Bryan Araujo added another goal for Nipomo, and Jesus Valdez, Ben Jiminiez and Aaron Robles had an assist apiece for the Titans (8-7-4, 2-2-2 LPL).

Templeton 1, Coast Union 0

Mott Mosher scored off an assist from Austin Alarcon in the 78th minute to lift the Eagles (2-9-2) in a nonleague matchup.

Tyrus Yamagata had five saves in goal for Templeton.

Morro Bay 0, Cabrillo 0, tie

The two teams tied atop the LPL standings remained deadlocked after the scoreless draw.

The Pirates (11-4-2, 4-1-1 LPL) had seven shots on goal, while the Conquistadores had none.

GIRLS SOCCER

Coast Union 4, Templeton 1

Cristy Plasencia led the Broncos (6-3-3) with two goals and two assists in a nonleague win.

Karla Soto added a goal, Paulina Torres had one assist and Gabby Bucia had six saves in goal for Coast  Union.

Santa Ynez 4, Nipomo 1

Kara Ramirez scored for the Titans (6-8-2, 4-2 LPL), and goalie Yocelyn Lotez had nine saves.

Cabrillo 8, Morro Bay 0

Madelynn Martinez had nine saves in goal for the Pirates (3-12, 1-5 LPL).
