The city of Paso Robles is inviting the public to participate in a logo design contest that carries a $1,500 grand prize.

The design concept will celebrate the city’s 125th anniversary events next year and will be based around milestones in Paso Robles’ history since its incorporation in 1889.

The art will be used in all anniversary promotions and merchandising, including a website, printed materials, and possibly a calendar, commemorative coin and flag, according to a news release from the city.

The entry deadline is 5 p.m. Feb. 15. Submissions will then be featured on the city’s website for the public to vote on the following day.

A local marketing panel will ultimately choose the final design, and the winning design will be announced March 1.

The competition is open to anyone who lives, works or attends school in the city.

The prize money comes from $500 pledges from the Paso Robles Historical Society, Pioneer Day Committee and Pioneer Museum, city Library and Recreation Services, Director Julie Dahlen said.

The plan is to reimburse those organizations once the anniversary celebration fundraising drive is under way, she added.
