A recent Tribune featured an article entitled, “U.S. pushes to finish Afghan dam.” It stated that the U.S. is forging ahead with the “giant infrastructure project long criticized as too costly in both blood and money.”
My question is: “Why?”
Why are we spending $500 million in that country (on top of $22.34 billion already spent) when the residents of Superstorm Sandy have been waiting for federal relief and much needed funds to repair their infrastructure. What are our leaders thinking?
We will have to address the needs of our own country’s decaying and battered infrastructure. That money would be better spent here at home.
With the many needs at home, the American people should be outraged at this continued folly in Afghanistan and Iraq. I guess to Washington it is only 500 million taxpayer dollars!
