The Placer Land Trust announced Sunday it has secured a 160-acre agricultural easement to protect the historic Oest Ranch in Placer County.
The property, known as Oest Ranch - Cold Springs Preserve, is near the North Fork of the American River in Clipper Gap. Under an agreement with the land's owners, the easement allows it be used for sustainable agricultural, while protecting the natural, scenic and historic attributes of the property.
In 2009, the trust secured 350 acres of Oest Ranch land near Lake Clementine, about a mile downstream from the newly protected property.
