Prep Roundup: Rowley’s game-winning shot lifts Mission Prep to boys basketball victory over Righetti

The Mission Prep boys basketball team held off Righetti High 61-60 on Saturday night after Andy Rowley hit the game-winning basket with seven seconds remaining. Rowley finished with a team-high 20 points.

The Royals (12-6) squandered a 10-point halftime lead after the Warriors outscored the Royals 21-12 in the third quarter. 

Tyler Baty had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds for Mission.

Cameron Walker led Righetti, which leads the PAC 7, with 24 points and Francisco Platero had 17.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Fairmont Prep 52, Mission Prep 31

The Royals trailed 28-17 at halftime and never regained the lead in their home loss to the Huskies.

Connor Storlie scored eight points for Mission Prep (2-14).  

BOYS SOCCER

Villanova Prep 2, Mission Prep 1

Eric McCall scored in the first half  for the Royals in their home loss. 

Jack Mooney had the assist as the Royals led 1-0 at halftime, and Peter Burelson had seven saves in goal for Mission Prep (2-12-1).

WRESTLING

Santa Ynez Tournament

Atascadero took third with 184 points. 

The Greyhounds had five wrestlers finish in the top three in their respective weight classes. 

Seth Berchfield finished first for the Greyhounds at 160 pounds. 

Jack Clemensen (145) took second, and Cruz Mendoza (106), Daniel Santos (132) and CJ Cooper (182) finished third for Atascadero.

Buena won the tournament with 263 points, and Millikin took second with 238.
