Paso Robles school put on lockdown after report of gunshot

Paso Robles’ Bauer-Speck Elementary School was temporarily placed on lockdown late Thursday morning following a report of a gunshot in the area, but has since been deemed safe.

At 11:36 a.m., the Paso Robles Police Department received a single report of one gunshot heard in the area of Bauer-Speck Elementary School in the 400 block of 17th Street.

School district staff secured all of the students Paso Robles Police Department officers arrived, according to a news release issued by the department.

Officers conducted an extensive check of the area on the ground and from the air, but no evidence was discovered that indicated any guns had been fired near the school. The lockdown was lifted around 11:50 a.m.

Training for a lockdown had been completed at the campus on Wednesday.
