Happy New Year!

The San Miguel School Board will meet this evening at 6:30 p.m. (this is a new time) at Lillian Larsen School 1601 L Street in the Library. There will be a closed session from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Following public comment, a public hearing will be held regarding Classified School Employees Association's request to negotiate with the district on reoopeners for 2012-13. For more information, view the agenda at http://www.sanmiguelschools.org/ or call the school at 805-467-3216.

Board members John Green, Anthony Kalvans and Richard Harrison took the oath of office at the December meeting. They join incumbents Connie Jarvis and Gib Buckman. At that meeting, First District Supervisor Frank Mecham presented certificates of recognition to former directors Richard Smithin and Dale Hamblin for their years of service to the district.

The San Miguel Library, at the top of 13th Street hill by the park, is participating in the 2013 San Luis Obispo County Adult Winter Reading Program "Hot Reads for Cold Nights," which begins on Jan. 15 and ends on April 16. Follow their reading list and receive prizes and surprises. Librarian Judy has all the information and, of course, books, CDs and DVDs.

The coffeehouse on the corner of 12th and Mission streets is under the new ownership of Kellie Work. It will soon reopen as the San Miguel Coffee Station. Watch for opening day!
