Piedras Blancas Light Station is looking for volunteers to help with public tours of the light station. Opportunities include tour guide, assistant and gift shop sales positions.
Public tours are scheduled Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays year round. From June 15 through Aug. 31, tours are offered every day except Sundays.
Tour training will begin in March.
Help is also needed for a variety on ongoing, re-occurring maintenance work at the light station. For those who like to work with plants, there are opportunities to help with non-native plant removal or trail trimming. There are several openings for individuals willing to learn plant identification and tackle chemical treatment of invasive species.
Maintenance and non-native plant removal opportunities are immediate. Volunteers make a positive difference in helping to restore and maintain an important historic light station and natural area.
Volunteers are asked to commit to at least 10 hours a month. Call 924-1807 for more information on volunteer opportunities at the light station.
