At 3:16 a.m. on New Year’s Day, San Luis Obispo County’s first baby of the year was born.

Dylan Keith Villers weighed in at a healthy 6 pounds, 12 ounces with a full head of brown hair.

“We’re just so happy and so lucky that he’s healthy. It’s pretty amazing having my first baby on the first of the year,” Russell Villers, 28, said.

JoVahna Estrada, 22, and Villers of Cambria had been up for 26 hours before the emergency C-section at French Hospital on Tuesday morning.

“We did all that and just had to go operate,” Villers said.

The couple had driven down to San Luis Obispo on the 29th but were sent home before they finally turned around again the next day.

“She was in labor for three days,” said Villers of his soon-to-be wife.

“It’s the best New Year’s ever,” Estrada said.
