Finding missing seniors

Published: December 31, 2012

Congratulations to the California Senior Legislature for the Silver Alert Program, which will aid in finding seniors who wander or get lost. Project Lifesaver will work as an adjunct to Silver Alert to provide further help when seniors are missing.

Project Lifesaver is a bracelet that emits a radio signal that can be tracked by the San Luis Obispo County Search & Rescue Team and the Sheriff’s Office.

The average recovery time for those wearing Project Lifesaver is less than 30 minutes.

The number of seniors is increasing rapidly, as is the number of seniors who are experiencing cognitive issues! While neither Project Lifesaver nor Silver Alert will be available in all counties throughout California, the combination of both programs spread throughout the state has the potential for finding seniors more quickly, and keeping them safer, if they do wander or get lost.

For more information about Project Lifesaver, call 548-0909.
