Ryan O’Connell scored 18 points, and the Atascadero High boys basketball team held off a late Paso Robles rally to defeat the Bearcats 68-48 in the championship game of the Atascadero Christmas Tournament.
Robbie Berwick and Brady Youngquist added 17 points apiece for the Greyhounds, who led by three at the half before pulling away in the third quarter.
Paso Robles trimmed the lead to four in the fourth quarter, but Atascadero held on for the championship against their rivals.
Josh Wilson-Murry scored a game-high 20 points for the Bearcats, including four 3-pointers, and Jaylon Davis added 14 for Paso Robles (4-8).
Steele Canyon 43, Templeton 37
Andy Garrettson scored a game-high 18 points, but the Eagles (5-8) fell in their final game at the Atascadero Christmas Tournament.
Aidan Sarbeck had eight points and Clark Burton added six for Templeton.
Mission Prep 64, Roosevelt (Seattle) 48
The Royals (9-5) allowed just five points in the third quarter to pull away from the Roughriders in the consolation championship game of the Senators Division at the Holiday Classic in San Diego.
One day after putting up a triple-double, Quinton Adlesh again paced Mission Prep, scoring 26 points, including five 3-pointers, to go with five rebounds and three assists.
Andy Rowley added 17 points, five rebounds and four assists and Evan Talbert had eight points and six rebounds for the Royals.
Ben Zambroski led Roosevelt with 22 points.
