Coast Union girls soccer team splits two at Santa Maria Tournament

About midway through the second half, the Coast Union High girls soccer team broke a scoreless tie against the Santa Maria Tournament host Saints and scored their second goal just minutes later in a 2-0 win Thursday.

Remy Corbet put Coast Union (4-4-1) on the board with a goal on an assist from Christina Plasencia.

Morgan May scored on a free kick to put the game away in their second match of the tournament.

“The girls came together, and they definitely started attacking,” Broncos coach Tamara Corbet said. “We also had more shots happening.”

Gabby Bucio had six saves against the Saints to go with the seven she put up in an earlier 2-0 loss to the Bearcats.

Clovis 5, Nipomo 0

Yocelyn Lopez had 12 saves in goal for the Titans (5-5-2), who were held scoreless in the nonconference road match.
