Luke Munds hit a 3-pointer with 20 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the score then scored six in overtime to lead the Morro Bay boys basketball team to an 82-70 victory over Yucca Valley in the first round of the Linfield Christian Caged Classic in Temecula.
The Pirates (6-6) led by five to open the fourth quarter and stretched the lead to 12 early in the final frame but found themselves trailing by three with under a minute remaining in regulation before Lunds connected from behind the arch.
Lunds finished with 24 points, and Elijah Lampley scored a game-high 34 for Morro Bay, seven of which coming in overtime.
The Pirates hit 19 of their 25 free throws and held the Trojans (2-7) to only 4 of 5 from the foul line.
Lawrence Mays had 22, Tommy Geiger had 21 and Trenten Pecaro had 19 for Yucca Valley.
Morro Bay advances to take on Excelsior Charter today at 4:30 p.m.

Nolan Baldwin scored a team-high nine points in the tournament-opening loss for the Broncos at the Maranatha Tournament in Pasadena.
Coast Union will face Montebello at 4:30 p.m. today.
