Thank you for coverage of the Newtown, Conn. school massacre. That 20 of the 28 dead are children makes this mass murder especially horrific. How tragic that this calamity erupted so close to Christmas. The tragedy of this yuletide will continue reverberating in the lives of parents, siblings, relatives, and friends of the dead children.

Perhaps Holocaust survivor Eric Lucas said it best while mourning the deaths of his parents, who sent him to England while they remained in Nazi Germany.

Lucas laments: “We have waited and hoped for a sign or message from our loved ones. It will never come. Overwhelming and crushing disaster have come upon us. It leaves the wounded and sore human heart lonely. The disaster has spoken to each of us personally.”
