UPDATE: Women identified in fatal hit-and-run allegedly caused by San Luis Obispo man

UPDATE: Santa Barbara County coroner investigators Monday identified the two women killed in the hit-and-run crash. They were Sara Ornelas, 54, of Santa Barbara, and Barbara Romero, 49, of Lompoc. 

Anyone with information about the collision is encouraged to contact the Buellton office of the CHP at 688-5551.

ORIGINAL: A San Luis Obispo man was arrested Friday after he fled the scene of a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed two pedestrians east of Lake Cachuma in the Santa Ynez Valley of Santa Barbara County, according to the CHP.

Martin Macerena, 48, of San Luis Obispo was driving west on Highway 154 when the incident occurred at the Rancho San Marcos Golf Course. Two other cars were involved in the crash.

None of the drivers was injured.

After the incident, Macerena fled the scene and was later arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.

The names of the two pedestrians killed in the crash have not been released.
