Thank you, Fred Campbell, of Nipomo for your opinion on Dec. 15 about the shooting incident in Connecticut.

When you stated that several school staff members should become armed with permits to carry concealed weapons, at every school in the country, I totally agreed with you. That way uninvited shooters would surely meet their matches long before police could show up to stop them.

Also, as you stated, banning firearms would only guarantee that criminals would be the only armed shooters with no one available to stop them until the police show up after it’s already too late.

So please, lawmakers and citizens alike: Don’t ban guns, but rather expand their presence in order to meet these vicious lunatics head on. Schools are supposed to be safe havens. Let’s fix them before it happens again — perhaps even around here somewhere.
