Cuesta women's basketball team wins in tournament

Makenzie Brewster had 12 points and eight rebounds, and Alyssa Palma had nine points and 10 assists as the Cuesta College women's basketball team rolled to a 69-44 win over Barstow in the quarterfinals of the San Diego Mesa Tournament on Thursday.

Cuesta (9-4) forced 36 turnovers while committing 18. Barstow (4-8) was held to 33 percent shooting from the field.

Courtney Chadwick had a team-high 13 points for Cuesta, who led 36-18 at halftime. Aria Johnson had 12 points and six rebounds.

Shantae Thomas led all scorers with 14 points for Barstow. BreAnnne Fraser was the only other Vikings player in double-digits with 11 points.
