The Boys and Girls Club of South San Luis Obispo County has a new executive director: Francisco (Franky) Curiel of Arroyo Grande.
The position was previously held for nearly seven years by Moyses Murguia.
Curiel has worked for 15 years as the director of the Extended Opportunity Programs and Services at Cuesta College, where he coordinated various student outreach activities to increase the enrollment of non-traditional and low-income students.
He has a masters degree in education and counseling from Cal Poly and was also an assistant basketball coach at both St. Louis University in St. Louis and St. Josephs College in Rensselaer, Indiana. Curiel is active on the San Luis Obispo Sheriffs Advisory Council and the Arroyo Grande Rotary Club.
