Marcelle Bakula is Cambria's Citizen of Year

cambrian@thetribunenews.comDecember 20, 2012

The Cambria Chamber of Commerce has selected Marcelle Bakula as the town’s 2013 Citizen of the Year.

She was among three candidates recommended by a group of previous Citizens of the Year. The chamber board made the final decision.

Bakula is an inveterate volunteer and ultimate organizer who leads and coordinates all sorts of events, from art auctions to wildlife care, from the historical society bookstore to a classic bicycle race and other events.

Donating her time, effort and prolific skills for more than two decades, Bakula has supported causes from the Lions Club, Friends of the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve and Greenspace — the Cambria Land Trust to Pacific Wildlife Care, Cambria Youth Athletic Association, the Cambria Historical Society, the Teen Center and the Chamber of Commerce’s Festival of Trees, which in turn benefits a wide range of causes.

The dinner celebrating her honor, at which a new Chamber board will be installed, is at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, at the Cambria Pines Lodge.
