Simulated gun stops an intruder and other Atascadero emergencies

Each day, dispatchers from the seven police departments in San Luis Obispo County take dozens of calls from residents seeking help for issues ranging from minor disputes to serious crimes. The Tribune provides coverage of serious crimes every day on its news pages. Here is a look at some of the other, more unusual calls as found in recent police logs from Atascadero.

Night visitor 4:14 a.m. Dec. 9, 5200 block of El Camino Real

A resident said someone banged on her door, which had been an ongoing problem for a few months.

A dead duck 1:54 p.m. Dec. 9, 9315 Pismo Ave.

A dead duck was found near the lake overflow near the playground at Atascadero Lake Park.

Good defense 12:40 a.m. Dec. 12, 7000 block of Atascadero Ave.

A resident said her husband was simulating a gun and had an intruder detained. Officers arrived and arrested a man for first-degree burglary.

Oh deer 5:04 p.m. Dec. 13, Highway 101 at San Anselmo

A group of six to seven deer was standing near the offramp.

You’ve got mail 6:36 a.m. Dec. 14 , 8900 Pueblo Ave.

Two men were seen going through the mailboxes in front of Coast Hills Federal Credit Union. Officers talked with the men, who were employees of a neighboring business and were getting their mail.

Disrespecting their elder 3:56 p.m. Dec. 14, 8400 block of Amapoa Ave.

A resident reported being harassed by her neighbors, who were 4 and 6 years old. The woman called back before officers were dispatched to say apologies had been made and no officer response was needed.
