Median barrier project along Hwy. 101 in South County to resume Sunday evening

Published: December 14, 2012

A project to construct a median barrier along a five-mile stretch of Highway 101 in South County will resume on Sunday evening, according to Caltrans.

The agency said that work will take place from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. on the highway from Los Berros Road to Fair Oaks Avenue.

There will be a full closure of the Highway 101 southbound onramp at Grand Avenue for three weeks starting Sunday through Jan. 6. Motorists may detour by using the southbound highway onramps at Halcyon Road or Traffic Way.

Caltrans warns drivers that they may face minor delays during the overnight work.

The contractor for the $2.8-million project is CalPortland Construction of Santa Maria. The project is expected to be completed next spring.
