The San Luis Obispo High boys basketball beat AUBD from Australia 61-57 behind David Thoresen’s 20 points Thursday in St. Joseph’s National Prep Classic.
Marley Stallings had 10 points, and Parker Lauritzen and Jonathan Edwards each scored eight points for the Tigers (4-3).
AUBD had a furious rally, outscoring San Luis Obispo 20-6 in the fourth quarter, but still fell short. Thomas Georgiabis had 13 points to lead the Australians.
Morro Bay 43, Nipomo 40
The Pirates (5-5) won their Los Padres League opener, defeating the Titans in Nipomo.
Xavier Alfaro and Elijah Lampley had 14 points apiece for Morro Bay, with Alfaro sinking four 3-pointers.
Freddy Ruiz scored a game-high 21 points for Nipomo (1-9).
Morro Bay 56, Napa 32
Hannah Gilbert had 25 points, 10 rebounds, and six blocks as the Pirates (5-2) beat the host team in the first round of the Napa Tournament.
Morro Bay jumped to a 17-4 lead at the end of the first quarter. Sierra Schwellenbach added 18 points, Carli Wyatt had a team-high four assists, and Nikki Machado picked up four steals.
Morro Bay plays tonight at 8 against Davis.
GIRLS WATER POLO
Atascadero 9, Santa Ynez 7
Kylie Ferree had three goals to lead Atascadero (6-2) in the road win over Santa Ynez.
Rachel Gruetzmacher and Claire Leong each had two goals. Goalie Lauren Giggy had 19 saves for the Greyhounds.
Morro Bay 2, Templeton 0
Holt Alden Jr. scored first for the Pirates in their win over the Eagles in Templeton.
Jackson Chavez had the assist and made a penalty shot in the second half to make the score 2-0.
Jeremy Neilson had three saves in goal for Morro Bay (6-2-1, 1-0 LPL).
Tyrus Yamagata had four saves in goal for Templeton (1-4-2, 0-1).

Annie Mae Bohnsack and Lindsey Wyatt scored two goals and had one assist apiece to lead the Eagles to a win over the Pirates on the road.
Sierra Azzarito added a goal for Templeton, and Courtney Elterman had two assists.
Goalkeeper Sara Albertini made three saves for the Eagles (2-5, 1-0 LPL).
Mariah Callahan scored for Morro Bay (1-6, 0-1 LPL) off an assist from Ellie Ruffener.
Nipomo 6, Santa Maria 0
Christina Ozzimo had a hat trick to lead Nipomo (3-4-2) in their first LPL game of the season.
Maleya Silva, Victoria Torres, and Mayra Bautista all scored for the Titans.
Silva, Karla Ramirez, Kristy Chavez all recorded an assist. Yocelyn Lopez had two saves in goal for Nipomo.
