As a parent of three, and as a marriage family therapist for 30 years, I believe a consolidation of sixth-graders with middle-school seventh- and eighth-graders is inappropriate.
I support parents Paul Irving and Matt Green, who want their children to enjoy their youth.
The multiple issues of peer acceptance, drugs, sex, bullying, alcohol and texting should not be exposed to 11-year-olds.
This educational experiment, was tried once before on avoluntary basis, and was rejected by the parents.
Let the school trustees come up with a more creative solution to ensure our youth can enjoy their development without those pressures present in the middle school.
