Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon, volunteers are invited to a Garden and Orchard Work Day at Lillian Larsen School (children should come with parents). Please bring gloves, tools, and water and something to share in a potluck at lunchtime. Then its time for festivities downtown! For more information, call Laverne Buckman at 467-3467.
Still time to join holiday festivities
Last-minute entries are welcome for the Craft Faire and the San Miguel Holiday Lights Parade. Entry forms for both are available online at www.discoversanmiguel.com and at the San Miguel Mercantile downtown. Fun starts at 2 p.m. with the Craft Faire, a chili cookoff, a decorated cupcake contest and a coloring contest for the children. Bring chili to the filling station at 12th and Mission streets. Please bring a dozen cupcakes with the one that is decorated for the contest to the Country Diner. The dozen will be taken to the firehouse for the childrens visit with Santa after the parade. A coloring contest will be held at the Treasure Locker and Jacksons Old and New on 12th Street. This is the 20th anniversary of the parade, and Linda Mora will display one of the original posters at the Country Diner. For information, call Mike Sanders at 712-9120.
Drop by the library
Also on Saturday, the San Miguel Library on 13th Street (by the park baseball field) will have an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. with popcorn and prizes. Librarian Judy wants everyone to know that the library provides free wi-fi no password necessary.
