Warden is appointed at California Men's Colony

Elvin Valenzuela, 51, of Visalia has been appointed warden at the California Men’s Colony, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation by Gov. Jerry Brown.

Valenzuela he has served as acting warden since 2011. During Valenzuela’s tenure with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation he has held posts including chief deputy administrator, associate warden and correctional captain at the California Men’s Colony; associate warden at North Kern State Prison; correctional lieutenant, correctional sergeant and correctional officer at Corcoran State Prison; and correctional officer at Avenal State Prison.

Valenzuela will make $130,668 annually.
