Los Osos trash rates may increase

newsroom@thetribunenews.comDecember 11, 2012

The Los Osos Community Services District will hold a special meeting Thursday to consider a 2.3 percent increase in the cost of trash collection services.

Mission Country Disposal has requested the increase to cover a $78,972 shortfall. It is necessary to cover increase costs, particularly fuel prices, the company said.

If the district board decides to move ahead with the request, a protest hearing will be held Feb. 7. If approved, the increase will cause residential monthly rates to rise between 20 and 72 cents, depending on the size of the trash can.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at 2122 Ninth Street, Suite 106, Los Osos.
