Prep Roundup: Girls volleyball, boys water polo players honored

Five volleyball players, two water polo players receive all-CIF-Southern Section recognition

Five local high school athletes were named to all-CIF-Southern Section teams in girls volleyball and two local athletes were honored in boys water polo Monday. 

Senior outside hitter Millisa Morro of Arroyo Grande High was named to the Division 2AA team in volleyball, and senior middle blocker Carly Roth of Templeton High was named to the Division 3A team. 

Three players were named to the all-CIF-Southern Section Division 5AA team: senior middle blocker Leslie Henry and senior setter JoAnn Lindstaedt of Coastal Christian and senior outside hitter Karla Soto of Coast Union.

In boys water polo, junior Jack Empey and senior Chandler Mankins of Arroyo Grande were named to the all-CIF-Southern Section Division 4 team.

Atascadero 4, Mission Prep 3

Atascadero won the nonleague match on the road.

Rachel Andrade had two goals for the Greyhounds (4-1), who also had a goal apiece from  Candace Johnston and  Christine Curtis.

For the Royals (4-2), Kelly Schorlach notched a goal on an assist from  Sydney Rathjens, Sammi Fernandez scored unassisted and Rathjens had a goal of her own, assisted by Jessa Culver.
