Cal Poly's Williams earns second-team All-American honors by The Sports Network

sports@thetribunenews.comDecember 10, 2012

Cal Poly senior running back Deonte Williams was named to The Sports Network’s Football Championship Subdivision All-American second team Monday.

Williams rushed for 1,506 yards and scored 12 touchdowns, surpassing the 100-yard rushing mark 10 times in 12 games this season, including a season-high 188 against UC Davis.

Williams’ streak of 10 games of 100 yards rushing or more broke the Mustangs’ school record of eight set by James Noble in 2005.

Williams’ total yards in a season is No. 2 on Cal Poly’s all-time list behind Noble, who ran for 1,578 in 2005.

The senior from Oakland also joined Cal Poly linebacker Kennith Jackson on the all-Big Sky Conference first-team.
