Workshop planned to get input on North County Salinas River trail

The public is invited to a workshop Dec. 10 to help county planners develop a trail system to link cyclists and pedestrians from Santa Margarita to San Miguel along the Salinas River.

Local transportation-planning agency the San Luis Obispo Council of Governments is hosting the workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Templeton Community Center, 691 South Main St.

The event will include a formal presentation from 6:30 to 7 p.m. with mapping exercises, surveys and a review of the project before and after.

“Workshops like this are essential to gather the input from citizens, especially those who are interested in healthier living and less expensive transportation alternatives,” SLOCOG president and Paso Robles City Councilman Fred Strong said in a statement.

The plan is geared toward improving future connectivity between North County communities, he added.

Participants will be asked to identify how and where the river corridor is currently used and document any concerns about the process.
