Atascadero shoppers scouting for deals will have a new place to shop in the New Year.
99¢ Only Stores, a City of Commerce-based discount retailer, will celebrate its grand opening Jan. 10 by selling 22-inch Philips flat screen televisions for 99 cents plus tax to the first nine customers in line at 7101 El Camino Real.
A ribbon cutting ceremony will kick off the event at 7:45 a.m. before the store opens at 8 a.m.
The 13,487-square-foot space will have 55 employees with the option to hire more. Those interested in applying for positions can pick up applications in the drop box outside the store. A tent for prospective employees will also be set up during the grand opening.
A soft opening is slated for Jan. 4, company spokeswoman Bethany O'Hoyt said. Atascadero's store will be the company’s first in San Luis Obispo County; it has two locations in Santa Maria.
99¢ Only Stores opened its first location in 1982 and operates 310 locations, most of which are in California.
