Atascadero, San Luis Obispo win in girls basketball tournament

The Atascadero High girls basketball team defeated Lompoc 62-26 in the opening round of the Perry Ford Holiday Tournament at San Luis Obispo High on Wednesday.

Mary Kate Evans led the Greyhounds (3-1) with 17 points.

Maddie Leong, Zayra Solorzano, Melody Ayers, Camille LeBlanc and Sarah Stafford scored six points apiece for Atascadero.

The Greyhounds will face Frontier at San Luis Obispo today at 3:30 p.m.

San Luis Obispo 41, Orcutt Academy 7

Christine Freberg had 15 points, Jessica Judge had 10 and the Tigers (2-4) jumped to a 32-1 halftime lead in the first game of the Perry Ford Holiday Tournament.

San Luis Obispo will face Bakersfield today at 8 p.m. in the second round.

Centennial 40, Paso Robles 26

Molly Donovan had 12 points and nine rebounds in the tournament-opening loss for the Bearcats (2-3).

Paso Robles held a 9-3 lead after the first quarter, but Centennial outscored the Bearcats 17-2 in the second to take control.

Paso Robles will play at Mission Prep tonight at 6 in the second round.

Garces 53, Morro Bay 44

Sierra Schwellenbach scored 17 points, Hannah Gilbert had 13 points and five rebounds, but the Pirates (1-1) fell at home in the first round of tournament.

Rachol West scored 35 points for Garces.

Morro Bay will play Ridgeview at home in the second round at 8 tonight.

Pioneer Valley 56, Mission Prep 40

Connor Storlie had a team-high 14 points in the tournament-opening loss for the Royals (1-5).

The Panthers jumped out to an early 20-8 lead after the first quarter and cruised from there.

Tess Boehm had eight points, and Noelle Laird had six for Mission Prep.
