Greyhounds girls water polo team wins two at Newbury Park Tournament

The Atascadero High girls water polo team won both its games Saturday at the Newbury Park Tournament, defeating Carpinteria 11-2 then downing Camarillo 15-4.

Against Carpinteria, Rachel Gruetzmacher scored six goals to pace the Greyhounds (3-2).

Claire Leong had three goals to lead Atascadero against Camarillo and Julia Mora, Kylie Ferree and Anna Beraud had two each.

Paso Robles won two of three games, defeating San Luis Obispo 5-1 before falling 7-4 to Buena. The Bearcats (5-2) rallied for a 7-6 win over Malibu in the 11th-place game.

Kylie Pugh had four goals on the day to lead Paso Robles.

San Luis Obispo lost three games, falling 7-5 to Thousand Oaks and 8-3 to Oxnard in addition to the loss to the Bearcats. Sara Gibbs had four goals on the day for the Tigers (3-4).
