Update: Caltrans says all lanes of the highway are now reopened.
Original: All north and southbound lanes of Highway 101 have been closed south of Salinas due to flooding, Caltrans says.
The highway is shut down just south of Chualar, which is 15 miles south of Salinas.
Caltrans is diverting traffic at Old Stage Road and Foletta Road. Message boards have been set up at King City on the south and at Mallorty Canyon Road to the north.
There is no estimate when the highway will reopen, Caltrans said.
