More than 20 roads have been closed in the Los Padres National Forest's Santa Lucia Ranger District until at least Dec. 7 due to muddy conditions.
Roads closed in San Luis Obispo County include the Pozo/La Panza OHV area, Hi Mountain Road, Huasna Road and West Cuesta Grade. They are closed as a result of heavy rainfall, swollen and fast-moving creeks and debris.
Driving on muddy roads causes ruts that lead to erosion, said Kathleen Phelps, district ranger. The public should call the ranger district office at 925-9538 for the latest conditions before using Forest Service roads.
