While I concur with everything Foon Rhee said (Voices, Nov. 22) about shopping on Thanksgiving ruining the day, in my opinion traditional Thanksgiving ended when end-to-end football games began to be shown on television. That was the end of a leisurely meal, a walk around the neighborhood after, board games and family camaraderie.
I believe it was Erma Bombeck who said something like, It takes 18 hours to prepare a Thanksgiving dinner and 12 and one-half minutes to eat it. That is the same amount of time as halftime. This is not a coincidence.
