Police have arrested an Arroyo Grande man who they say forced employees of a small Grover Beach market into the rear of the store Wednesday morning and then took $181 from the cash register before fleeing.

Garett Michael Davis, 35, was arrested on suspicion of robbery, kidnapping and resisting arrest and booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.

According to the Grover Beach Police Department, Davis entered the Pocket Book Market at 294 N. Fourth St. shortly before 8:30 a.m. He forced employees to the rear of the store, took the money and fled, police said.

Officers had a description from the victims — a white male with blond hair wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt.

Police found Davis in the 600 block of West Grand Avenue, and following a brief foot chase, apprehended him. He had a container of Mace used in the robbery, as well as $181 police said he took from the store.
