The Cancer Support Community is spearheading a holiday event Friday in Paso Robles that not only pays tribute to those affected by cancer but also is designed to improve Downtown City Park during the holidays. The Light Up the Night event begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the park in conjunction with the Paso Robles Downtown Main Street Associations 26th annual holiday lighting ceremony. Mrs. Claus will turn the lights on for the first time this season after a countdown ceremony at 6 p.m.
Light Up the Night is a campaign to fill Downtown City Park with more than 35,000 holiday lights that will go on each evening through Dec. 31.
Donations can be made by adopting individual bulbs for $10 a piece to keep the program going. Any remaining funds go to the groups local cancer support programs.
