Firestone Walker gets OK to expand Paso Robles operations

Published: November 20, 2012

Firestone Walker Brewing Co., which added new brewing facilities and built a restaurant in Paso Robles earlier this year, has received the go-ahead to expand its kegging and bottling operations there.

Last week, the Paso Robles Planning Commission allowed the brewery to build a 40,000-square-foot expansion and add 72 parking spaces to serve all its buildings, including The Taproom, its restaurant. The parking lot will be built just north of the restaurant, which currently has mostly street parking.

The Planning Commission’s Nov. 13 approval of the plans was the last step the company needed before it pulls building permits, city planner Darren Nash said.

The company established its brewery in 1996 in Santa Barbara County and expanded to Paso Robles in 2001.

Costs associated with the expansion project weren’t immediately available Tuesday.
