Cal Poly wrestling team takes ninth in Philadelphia

Cal Poly’s Devon Lotito won the 133-pound title at the Keystone Invitational on Sunday, and the Mustangs wrestling team finished the tournament tied for ninth place.

The unseeded Lotito toppled top-seeded Levi Mele of Northwestern with a 4-2 decision in the final. He also defeated second-seeded Jimmy Morris of Rider in the semifinals, and third-seeded Garrett Frey of Princeton in the quarterfinals.

Cal Poly’s Sean Dougherty took fifth place at 184 pounds, and Atticus Disney also was fifth, at 285 pounds.

The Mustangs scored 47 points, tied for ninth with Boston. Northwestern won with 156 points.
