Cal Poly volleyball team falls in five sets to UC Riverside

The Cal Poly volleyball team (3-25, 2-14 Big West) dropped another match, this time to UC Riverside 25-17, 25-20, 18-25, 15-25, 15-13 on Saturday in Riverside.

Cal Poly dug itself into a 0-2 hole but forced a pivotal fifth set, which included five ties and two lead changes. Cal Poly beat UC Riverside (8-22, 2-14) in five sets back on Oct. 19 in Mott Gym.

Chelsea Hardin led the Mustangs with 13 kills and three digs. Molly Pon had 10 kills, Nicole Kessler had 16 digs, and Maddie Kuber had 37 assists, four kills, and nine digs.

Amanda Vialpando had a game-high 18 kills and also had 12 digs for the Highlanders. Emily Borges had 40 assists and 12 digs.

Cal Poly finishes the season with a two-game homestand next Friday and Saturday against UC Irvine and Long Beach State, respectively.
