Cal Poly's O'Brien sets school record in 200 butterfly

Senior Rachel O’Brien made a splash for the Cal Poly swimming and diving team, setting her second school record, this time in the women’s 200-yard butterfly Saturday at the Arena Invitational in a time of 1:59.50, taking more than a second off the record set in 2008.

O’Brien advanced to the championship final where she finished in fifth place.

Cal Poly freshman Ian Sinclair advanced to the championship final in the 1,650-yard freestyle, finishing fourth for the Mustangs with a time of 15:27.86. He was followed in fifth place by teammate Sonny Fierro at 15:32.58.

Angie Haven advanced to the finals in the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing in seventh place with a time of 2:18.03.

In the 400-yard relays, the Cal Poly men finished eighth in 3:03.02. The women’s relay team finished 10th.

The Cal Poly men finished the weekend in seventh place, and the women finished in tenth place.
