The San Luis Obispo Friday Night Live Partnership has received a $125,000 grant from the Drug-Free Communities Support Program, U.S. Rep. Lois Capps, D-Santa Barbara, announced Tuesday.

The partnership’s youth development and substance abuse program is present in middle and high schools throughout San Luis Obispo County, with 24 chapters.

Capps praised the partnership’s work, saying it “has been doing great work in our local communities for over 20 years, keeping our kids drug free and helping them develop healthy habits that will last a lifetime.”

“Our children are our future,” Capps continued, “and we owe it to our country to ensure that we invest in them and give them the tools they need to lead to lead successful and productive lives.”

The grant is administered by the Office of National Drug Control Policy.
