Cal Poly students to show off ideas for SLO bus terminal

acornejo@thetribunenews.comNovember 10, 2012

Cal Poly civil engineering students and city and regional planning departments will present ideas for a pedestrian and bus plaza in downtown San Luis Obispo from 3:45 to 5:30 p.m. Nov. 15 in Building 13, Room 117 at Cal Poly.

The event is open to the public and community feedback is sought. The location of the proposed center is along Santa Rosa Street between Monterey and Marsh streets.

The students have created proposals that would relocate the existing bus terminal and transit center closer to downtown in an attempt to reduce the number of vehicles downtown and encourage more walking and cycling. The presentations will be incorporated into the ongoing discussion about the city’s Land Use and Circulation Plan. Each student group will present its alternatives for the project and display its model for the proposed center.
