Templeton's football team routed by Santa Monica in playoffs

Published: November 10, 2012

Santa Monica High defeated Templeton 44-0 on Friday in a first-round CIF-Southern Section Western Division playoff game.

The Eagles (7-4) were simply overmatched against a school that has more than four times the enrollment (3,000 to 700) as they do.

Templeton failed to score as it committed costly holding penalties when in Vikings territory,

Eagles coach Dan Loney said.

“We came out a little shell-shocked in the beginning, but we never quit,” Loney said. “I’m proud of them for this season. We installed a new offense and new defense and moved up a division and grew quite a bit. This is one of the best teams Templeton has ever had.”
