Here is a list of Veterans Day events being held around SLO County:

SUNDAY

Atascadero “Faces of Freedom” Veterans Day Ceremony at the Faces of Freedom Veterans Memorial. Atascadero Lake Park, Highway 41 and Portola Road. 11 a.m. Presentation of the AVMF Distinguished Veteran Award; Presentation of “Quilts of Valor”; keynote speaker retired Lt. Col. John Foldberg, USMC; the Grizzly Academy Cadet Color Guard; and performances by the Central Coast Pipes and Drums, local vocalist Emy Bruzzo, the Atascadero High School Choir and an Estrella Warbirds military flyover. Following the ceremony, the Kiwanis Club of Atascadero will provide a community barbecue at Memorial Park. 462-1267.

Pismo Beach Veterans Day Ceremony on the Pismo Beach Pier. 11 a.m. Pismo Beach Police Department Honor Guard will present the nation's colors and fire a rifle salute to all those who have fought and died. Guest speaker Col. Jed Davis, USAF. 773-4382.

Cambria Veterans Day Ceremony. 1 p.m. Sunday at the flag stand at the Veterans Memorial Building, 1000 Main St., Cambria. Keynote speaker Jack Gibson will tell of being shot down in Singapore in World War II, captured by the Japanese and sentenced to death. The Cambria Chorale will sing. A barbecue served by Sons of the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary will follow. 924-1814.

Sunset North Car Wash & Detail Center is offering free car washes to veterans and military personnel. 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Arroyo Grande location and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at its locations in Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo. Mind over Matter post-traumatic stress and suicide awareness event to benefit AmpSurf and Veterans Express. Veterans are encouraged to wear uniforms. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. 10 a.m. Color guard, 10:15 a.m. Spinathon, 11 to 6 p.m. FitnessWorks, 500 Quintana Road, Morro Bay. $10 entry fee. Xtreme Heroes Party: Meet & Greet with ultimate fighters Randy Couture and Rampage Jackson. MONDAY

Get to know the survivors of the 161st Ordnance Company of the Korean War at the Central Coast Veterans Memorial Museum. 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. In honor of the survivors of the 161st Ordnance Company, a company of veterans from San Luis Obispo County that was the first National Guard unit federalized for active duty during the Korean War. Survivors will share stories of their service and show photographs of their experiences during the Korean War. SLO native Frank Rowan will lead the group. 801 Grand Ave., San Luis Obispo.
