Eleven female inmates from the Womens Honor Farm will graduate from the Alternatives to Violence program Saturday, in a ceremony that begins at noon at the Sheriffs Office Lowgren Auditorium, 1585 Kansas Ave., San Luis Obispo.
The 11 women will have completed 60 hours of workshops on alternatives to violence and conflict resolution, and will become certified facilitators for future such programs.
The program is designed as a proactive approach to violence in general and assisting inmates in particular with resolving conflicts.
The ceremony is being put together by the Sheriffs Office in collaboration with Sister Theresa Harpin of Restorative Partners, as well as volunteers from the local Alternatives to Violence program.
