A groundbreaking ceremony for three new affordable homes in San Luis Obispo, built by Habitat for Humanity, is scheduled for 1 p.m. today.

The homes, located at 3212 Rockview Place, are the second affordable housing development that Habitat for Humanity for San Luis Obispo County has built in the city.

Affordable homes have also been built in Paso Robles, Atascadero, Grover Beach and Cambria.

In addition, 25 homes will be built on the property owned in the cities of Paso Robles and Arroyo Grande in the next three to five years.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to bring simple, decent and affordable housing to three deserving families,” said Julia K. Ogden, chief executive officer.

Construction of the three houses will begin in January with the goal of having them completed by September.
