A man suspected of stabbing a Heritage Ranch resident and then fleeing has turned himself in to authorities, according to a news release from the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office.
Billy Benjamin Hernandez, 40, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after he turned himself in at the Sheriff's North Patrol Station in Templeton just after 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Hernandez had been on the run since Nov. 1 after he reportedly attacked a man at a home in the 3200 block of Eagle Point Lane in the North County community of Heritage Ranch.
Witnesses say Hernandez stabbed the victim multiple times and then fled the scene by car, according to the release.
The victim, whose identity is being withheld, was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo for treatment. That person's current condition was not disclosed.
Hernandez was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail and remained there Thursday afternoon in lieu of $1 million bail.
The case has now been turned over to the District Attorney's Office for review and the filing of charges, authorities said.
